Everyone knows that when you buy a car, it starts losing its value immediately. This is called depreciation. However, not all cars depreciate at the same rate. Every year, Edmunds evaluates new car models and estimates which vehicles will hold onto their value longer than others and awards those models Best Retained Value Awards.
This year, three Honda vehicles came away with the top prize in their respective segments: the 2018 Honda Accord, the Civic, and the CR-V. This means buyers who choose these models can feel confident that they will get more money back into their pockets when the time comes to trade it in or sell it.
“Buying a new car is a huge financial decision, and our 2018 Edmunds Best Retained Value Awards are designed to help shoppers discover the brands and vehicles that can help them get the most out of their investment,” said Avi Steinlauf, Edmunds’ CEO. “This year’s winners underscore a commitment to quality and reliability and are good bets to hold their value over the course of ownership.”
In the Best Retained Value Awards, Edmunds’ analysts study years of market data to determine which model are expected to have the highest projected residual value after five years. So, if you are looking for a new car that will give you a lot of value, a Honda is always a great choice.
